VISION AND
MISSION STATEMENTS
WHO WE ARE
* We feel
drawn to horses and to other animals
with whom we share our world.
* We desire
to understand their thoughts and
behavior, and to help them understand,
trust, and like being with us.
* We glory
in the aesthetic beauty of their
movement and delight in the kinesthetic
pleasure of moving in concert with them.
* We find
comfort and reassurance in physical
closeness with them.
* When we
open our hearts to them, we feel
connected with the natural world and
with our own inner being.
OUR VISION
Our vision
is of a world where the wondrous bond
between humans and animals is honored
and appreciated, a world where each
person and each animal is respected in
its uniqueness as a thinking, feeling,
always learning consciousness, a world
where Clicker Training is viewed as a
welcome addition to the horseperson's
toolbox, a world where horses have a
voice that counts.
WHY WE ARE
CLICKER TRAINERS
Clicker
Training is a scientifically-based
training system which fosters the
realization of our vision by recognizing
that both the human and the animal are
active participants in the learning
process, and that no matter what
discipline or pastime we are engaged in
with our horses, we are building a
relationship which has as its foundation
mutual respect and understanding.
Clicker
Training provides the language which--
* enables
our horses to ask us what we would like
them to do,
* enables us
to precisely indicate to them when they
have done what we wanted, and
* allows
them the freedom to show us what they
enjoy doing and to tell us what is
difficult or confusing to them.
Clicker
Training has--
* Changed
the way we regard our horses
* Helped us
to solve behavior problems
* Taken the
fear out of being around horses
* Made our
horses eager to work and play with us
* Led us to
become more analytic observers and more
effective teachers, and
* Enabled us
to achieve our goals of performance,
comfort, and beauty.
By telling
the stories of our horses and of how
Clicker Training has enhanced our
partnerships, the members of the Clicker
Trainers Association wish to share
Clicker Training with others in the
horse community who will welcome this
valuable addition to their philosophical
framework and technical toolbox.
OUR MISSION
Our mission
is to offer Clicker Training to those
who are looking for a way to enjoy more
creative and rewarding relationships
with their horses, to make training safe
and fun for both horses and people, and
to love the process of learning
together.
In order to
carry out our mission, the Clicker
Trainers Association will--
* Sponsor
clinics, demos, and other educational
events
* Provide a
forum for people who are clicker
training to exchange ideas and learn
from one another, and
* Encourage
the development of local groups of
clicker trainers who will meet to have
fun with Clicker Training and support
each other.
